This activity transforms self-awareness and peer relationships by encouraging children to identify and celebrate character strengths. Through movement, matching, and compliment-sharing, students practice recognizing positive qualities in authentic ways, building a classroom culture of appreciation and respect.
Purpose:
To help students recognize character strengths in themselves and others through interactive movement, matching, and meaningful peer compliments.
Materials Needed:
- 30 Strength Cards (each featuring one strength word)
- 30 Clue Cards (descriptions + compliment sentence stems)
- Open space for students to move around and interact
How to Play:

Introduce the Concept of Strengths – Explain that a strength is something inside you that helps you succeed, support others, or make a positive difference.

Preview Some Cards Together – Share examples such as creativity, kindness, persistence, and brainstorm how these strengths show up in daily life.

Model the Compliment Stem – Demonstrate how to use:
“I think you show [strength] when…”

Role-Play & Match – Distribute Strength Cards and Clue Cards. Students walk around, interact, and find their matching partners.
